WHO WE ARE

We are Luciana, Marina and Sara. We have been working with the Viewpoints technique for many years.

Marina Dessau and Sara Spennemann initiated “Viewpoints Training Berlin” in 2015. They both studied acting at the Mozarteum Salzburg, where they got to know and love the Viewpoints method through Jay Scheib in 2006. Jay Scheib is a student of Anne Bogart who further developed the Viewpoints/Composition method together with Tina Landau (based on the Viewpoints method by Mary Overlie). Anne Bogart would occasionally drop in on rehearsals at the Mozarteum and tell us what she thought and what she was still looking for when she watched us. Luciana Abel Arcuri is a clown who studied performing arts in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and also got to know Viewpoints Training during her studies.

We use the Viewpoints technique as a basis for our own work. To practice the technique continuously, we organize monthly open Viewpoints sessions. We are interested in: training, research, exchange with other professional stage artists.

Through years of Viewpoints training together, we have also come together as a trio. We support each other artistically and performatively and work together on projects. We give Viewpoints workshops 1-2 times a year.

Sara works with Viewpoints in projects that combine acting and circus. Marina uses the method in theater performance-based approaches. She also teaches Viewpoints in connection with digital technologies in the practical seminar at the FU-Berlin. Luciana uses Viewpoints in her work as a clown.

OUR STORY

From 2012 until the Corona gap, we met almost every Monday evening at the Theaterhaus Mitte in Berlin for open Viewpoints training. Loosely for the first few years, then quite reliably from 2015 onwards. During this time, our focus was purely on Viewpoints training.

Then came the corona break with its challenges and changes....

During this time, the focus shifted more and more towards artistic research. We maintain this approach and incorporate it into the Open Viewpoints and Composition Sessions.

Every month we offer an open session for professional stage performers on a donation basis. In these open sessions, we combine practicing the Viewpoints training along with artistic research and exchange.

The first times we provide topics ourselves. After that you are invited and welcome to bring your own questions and topics - we’re looking forward to being inspired by your experience and curiosity.

Our group is intended to be both, a place to train together and to network with each other in the artistic hustle and bustle of Berlin. In addition, we fulfill our desire for continuous stage training, even if there are sometimes longer interruptions due to a stage project.

You will meet Luciana, Marina and Sara most often at the training sessions and workshops:

Luciana Arcuri was born in Brazil, has lived in Berlin since 2016 and works as a clown for Red Noses Germany - Red Noses International. In recent years she has given workshops in clown and physical theater for beginners and professionals. Luciana has already performed in different countries in Europe, Brazil Venzuela, Afrika, Greece, Bosnia and China. Since 2020 she is part of the Duo “Maria Eugênia & Margarita”, together with Ligia Liberatori. She has been part of the Viewpoints Berlin group since 2019.  Organized the Clown Festival Berlin - 1st edition in 2023.

Marina Dessau, Theaterperformance-Künstlerin, Schauspielerin. Lehrtätigkeit FU Berlin/ Praxisseminar Theaterwissenschaft zum Verhältnis von performenden Körpern und neuen Technologien. Neben Theaterperformances zum politischen WWW (internil seit 2005), forscht Marina körperlich-künstlerisch zur Codier- und Übertragbarkeit von sensorischer Information und nonverbaler Kommunikation. Im Fokus stehen (nicht-)menschliche Wahrnehmungen und Affekte im Kontext von (gesellschaftlichen) Brüchen.

Sara Spennemann ist Schauspielerin, gastiert an Theatern und erarbeitet verschiedene Produktionen im Bereich Neuer Zirkus. Sie trainiert am Vertikalseil und am Trapez. Seit 2017 entwickelt sie eigene Bühnenproduktionen, deren Schwerpunkt auf der interdisziplinären Verbindung von Theater, Tanz, Zirkus und Artistik liegt.

Daniel und Bea gehören auch mit zum Initial-Offkick-Orga-Team:

Daniel Megnet ist Clown, Artist und Schauspieler und besuchte die Theater Schule DELL'ARTE int. School for physical theater in den USA. Seit über 30 Jahren arbeitet er mit seinem Bühnenpartner im Duo DIRK & DANIEL als Comedy-Artist. Seit 2017 ist er für die ROTEN NASEN e.V. als Krankenhaus Clown tätig.

Beatrix Schwarzbach arbeitet als Rhetorik-Trainerin, Dozentin und  Regisseurin. Sie überträgt die Erfahrungen aus dem Viewpoints Training gern in andere szenische Zusammenhänge und nutzt die Methode für genaue Beschreibungen (beim Zuschauen) und um sich so richtig auszupowern (beim Machen).
